Description

Stratton Motor Company are delighted to be able to offer this stunning example of one of the most desirable classic cars, the sought after 1961 Jaguar E-Type (Series I) Flat Floor.

The 1961 Jaguar E-Type is one of the most iconic British sports cars ever built — celebrated for its stunning design, advanced engineering for the era, and strong performance that put it among the world’s elite cars in the early 1960s.

Enzo Ferrari famously praised the Jaguar E-Type upon its 1961 debut, calling it “the most beautiful car ever made” This high praise from the founder of the rival Italian supercar brand highlighted the E-Type’s stunning, aerodynamic design, which featured a long bonnet and, for the time, exceptional performance of 150 mph

This particular car is believed to have originally been supplied to the US market as a LHD convertible model in 1961 and records show it as having been examined by JLR in 2016 in Austin, Texas as ‘Awaiting Restoration’ and finished in Primer, still as a LHD car.

Then in 2020 a further examination was carried out by Jaguar Land Rover Classic, the car now having returned to the UK and just prior to the full restoration undertaken by specialists ASM Classics in Kent.

The file for the car includes the JLR Classic report confirming the authenticity of the car and photographs of the restoration process and its conversion back to right hand drive.

The car is powered by the 3.8 litre twin cam straight six engine with Triple SU carburettors producing around 265bhp and fed through a 4 speed ‘Moss’ gearbox giving a top speed of around 150mph and a 0-60mph of just 7 seconds.

No expense has been spared on this exceptional rebuild including newly refurbished interior, detail having been paid to every feature including the adjustment on seams which are a specialist job in their own right and very hard to achieve.

Further details to be confirmed.
