1983 Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Stratton Motor Company are pleased to be able to offer for sale this lovely example of the much acclaimed 1983 Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

When Sir David Brown sold Aston Martin to the investment consortium called Company Developments in 1972 the ‘DB’ model name was dropped from the Aston range and didn’t reappear until after Ford bought out Aston Martin and then used the title again with the introduction of the DB7.

The Aston Martin V8 Vantage, as here, was clearly a development of the former Aston Martin flagship model, the DBS V8 but with changes to the styling and suspension. The successful platform chassis  designed by Bill Towns remained, as did the Tadek Marek designed 5.3 litre V8.

The V8 saw many changes over it life to include what has become known to enthusiasts as the ‘Oscar India’ model phonetically modified to denote the intended ‘October Introduction’, and released in October 1978. The major change of note was the increase in the size and presence of the ‘closed in’ bonnet bulge, necessary to give clearance to the airbox which sat atop the quartet of Weber downdraught carburettors, replacing the former electronic fuel injection preference and increasing power output to 390 bhp.

Other notable changes included the new ‘tea tray’ style front spoiler, the closed in grille with twin driving lights and the inclusion of a rear spoiler.

This particular model was first registered in November 1983 and has had six owners since, although two of those owners were the same person and when the car was ‘owned’ by a well respected North Yorkshire tool maker “Paramo Tools’ and then sold to the owner of the company as a private acquisition.

During it’s life it also had a private registration ‘A4TUN’ but has now returned to its original registration.

The maintenance history of the car has been carefully retained including 22 former tax discs and all of it’s MOT history.

The majority of the cars mileage was accrued during it’s ownership by Paramo Tools, and in 1997 had covered 79025 miles when a new speedometer was fitted. To date the new speedo shows 14007 so a cumulative total mileage of 93032.

Having been originally built and supplied in Blenheim Silver when new, the car has undergone two restorations during which time the colour has been changed to metallic blue, and laterally Mauritius Seychelles Blue.

In 2017, and with the mileage showing just 13076 the car underwent a complete bare metal respray on behalf of its current owner at Aston Martin Works, and a complete engine rebuild by the  much acclaimed Aston Engineering including a new balanced clutch, both at considerable cost.

The results are simply stunning, the coachwork being finished in a resplendent Aston Martin Mauritius Seychelles Blue, contrasting with the beautiful grey hide leather interior, with blue piping, walnut veneers and blue Wilton carpeting.

This car is almost perfect in almost every way and must be one of the best examples available at this time and a credit to its former owners who have recognised the car for what it is. £214,995
