Who Are DriveTribe?

DriveTribe originally launched in November 2016 as an online motoring-community platform founded by the former Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May, along with entrepreneur Ernesto Schmitt and producer Andy Wilman. It grouped content into themed “tribes,” allowing car enthusiasts to connect, contribute articles, videos, and discussions in a social-media style environment. After scaling rapidly—it reached around 140 million monthly users by 2021—the original DriveTribe platform was shut down in early 2022 due to industry-wide drops in revenue and marketing budgets. Today, DriveTribe operates under the direction of Richard Hammond as a leading UK-based automotive marketing and video production agency, creating high-engagement content across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and more.
